Real Impact & Progress
Dear donors and friends,
On behalf of the Unicorn Cancer Thrivers Foundation, we hope you had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! π¦ π¦ Always remember to enjoy the people around you, find gratitude, and savor the unique moments for they only happen once. Most importantly, be kind to yourself and be thankful for health.
Itβs been about 3 months since we started our venture into the breast cancer nonprofit world as the Unicorn Cancer Thrivers Foundation. It has been a profoundly gratifying experience. We are immensely humbled by the impact that you and our community have enabled us to do.
Operationally, we hit some big milestones:
β
August - incorporated as a public charity in California, serving the United States
β
October - obtained 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the IRS
β
November - got verified on Guidestar (Candid), approved for Benevity (corporate giving platform used by Google, Apple, Netflix, Visa, and more), and became one of the few mobile-first charities that take both Apple Pay and Venmo.
β€οΈ π But more meaningful than anything else, real impact:
ππ» $43,000 - total donations generated, directly benefitting metastatic breast cancer patients and caregivers
ππ» $38,000 - donations raised over 2 days by partnering/supporting another MBC fundraiser (Boot Walk Stomp Out team) via a $10k match challenge
ππ» $2,000 - largest single donation
ππ» 86 - unique donors
ππ» 2 - MBC-related organizations supported, that provide quality of life services
The two MBC-related organizations we primarily supported are the Advanced Breast Cancer Clinic and Inflammatory Breast Cancer Clinic at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The funds will power support groups, webinars, patient navigation, financial support, and clinical trials to name a few - all improving the quality of life for our MBC community.
We give thanks:
π To metastatic breast cancer thrivers - for being our motivation and truth, and showing what it means to have true courage and tenacity.
ππΌ To the selfless caregivers - for providing the foundation and leaning shoulder for MBC survivors to heal and thrive.
π©π»ββοΈπ¬To MBC medical teams and researchers - for compassionate care and improving the science towards ending this terrible disease.
π£ To advocates - for amplifying the voice of MBC patients and influencing positive change in research, funding, awareness, and policy.
π To the breast cancer nonprofit community - for coaching us and providing immeasurable advice and lessons.
π«ΆπΌ To our supporters - for giving encouragement, feedback, and cheer.
and lastly,
π To our donors - for showing us the true meaning of human kindness and generosity. For enabling our existence.
Thank you for believing in Unicorn! ππΌ π¦ β€οΈ
We have lots more important work to help MBC patients and caregivers move from trauma to unicorn thriving. Thank you for being part of our cause! Stay tuned or drop us feedback via any of the below.
